Perched on the gentle hills overlooking the coastline of Methoni, this residence was conceived as a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean living — rooted in landscape, climate and timeless materiality.
The architectural composition unfolds through a sequence of courtyards, shaded outdoor rooms and stone volumes carefully integrated into the natural terrain. Inspired by the spatial qualities of traditional Messinian architecture, the project combines thick limestone walls, pergolas, arches and planted transitional spaces with a calm contemporary architectural language.
The residence is organized around a central open-air courtyard, creating a constant dialogue between interior and exterior spaces while allowing natural light, ventilation and privacy to shape everyday life. Large covered terraces and outdoor living areas extend the experience of the house into the landscape, framing distant sea views and the surrounding olive groves.
Natural materials and earthy tones were selected to reinforce the connection with the site. Warm local stone, wooden elements and soft Mediterranean planting create an atmosphere of understated luxury and quiet permanence.
The project emphasizes bioclimatic principles and passive environmental strategies, carefully balancing orientation, shading and integration into the hillside terrain to create comfortable living conditions throughout the year.
Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the residence seeks to become part of it — a calm architectural retreat shaped by light, stone, vegetation and the rhythm of the Mediterranean environment.
